The situation in Kamptee town near Nagpur was normal after nearly five days of arson and violence and curfew has been lifted, police said.

"The town was returning to normalcy but police are keeping a close eye and patrolling the areas," Superintendent of Police Yashasvi Yadav told PTI in Nagpur.

Kamptee, which has a sizeable Dalit population, witnessed violent protests since late Monday night and curfew was clamped in the early hours on Tuesday.

The Dalits were protesting the killing of four members of the community in Khairlanji in neighbouring Bhandara district.
