Seven of the 13 accused in the July 11 Mumbai communter train blasts case, including alleged mastermind Faisal Sheikh, have been identified by witnesses during an identification parade, a top police official said in Mumbai on Saturday.

The parade was carried out in front of an executive magistrate in the Thane Central Jail recently.

Among those identified were Faisal Sheikh who planted the Jogeshwari bomb, Kamal Ansari (Matunga bomb planter), Ehtesham Siddiqui (Mira Road bomb planter), Asif Khan alias Junaid (the "key conspirator"), Sajid Ansari, Tanvir Ansari and Govandi resident Mohammed Ali at whose residence the bombs were assembled.

"They were identified by different witnesses, including passengers, who in some cases have seen them indulging in the act," Roy said.

"We have strong corroborative as well as circumstantial evidence against the accused," said Anti-Terrorism Squad Chief K P Raghuvanshi, when asked if the identification will make the investigating agency's case stronger.

In a remand application filed before a special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court, the ATS has said that efforts were on to trace more witnesses in the case.

All the 13 accused have been booked under MCOCA and are in judicial custody.

Seven powerful explosions had rocked suburban local trains during the rush hour on July 11, 2006, killing 192 people and injuring over 500.
