Arriving in New Delhi [Images] on a week-long visit to further strengthen ties, Nepal Deputy Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli on Sunday said he will seek India's support to the ongoing peace process in his country.

Oli, who will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] and hold talks with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, noted that India has always been helping Nepal and he expected this to continue.

"India is a friendly country and has always supported peace, development and democracy there," he told reporters in New Delhi adding, India had a major contribution towards strengthening of democracy in the Himalayan country recently.

Making it clear that his first trip here was intended to further strengthen bilateral relations, Oli, who also holds the portfolio of foreign minister, said he would specifically seek India's support to the ongoing peace process.

This visit will provide an ideal opportunity for both sides to review bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest, which will lead to strengthening of India-Nepal relations.

Oli's visit comes four months after Nepal Prime Minister G P Koirala came to India.

The Nepal deputy prime minister will also visit Thiruvananthapuram and Kolkata.
