One of the five gold plated bulbs of the kalash (holy vessel) of the famous Kedarnath temple in Rudraprayag district has gone missing.

The incident came to light on Tuesday, when a group of officials belonging to Kedarnath-Badrinath Temple Committee and a police team found that one of the five gold plated bulbs of the kalash was missing.

An FIR has been lodged in this regard by the temple committee officials.

When contacted, Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police V P Singh said police has launched efforts to trace the metal bulb but added that it might have gone missing due to heavy windy conditions prevailing in the area.

The portals of the temple were closed for winter break on October 24.
