A sessions court on Tuesday sentenced Sahrunissa Shaikh, mother of Best Bakery case prime witness Zaheera Shaikh, to three months rigorous imprisonment for giving false evidence in the case. Immediately after the verdict, she was taken into custody. Judge Abhay Thipsay, who had conducted the Best Bakery retrial, also fined her Rs 500.He also observed that she was tutored and had lied before the court intentionally during the retrial of the Best Bakery case. The Godhra Carnage The Judge had issued notice to Sehrunissa, Zaheera and her other family members to show cause why action should not be taken against them for giving false evidence. The trial of Zaheera and her brother Nasibullah and sister Sahira has yet to start for giving false evidence.
