Slain model Jessica Lall's sister on Wednesday welcomed the High Court order to issue bailable arrest warrants against the nine persons acquitted in the murder case saying it was a positive step which would prevent them from fleeing the country. "It is an extremely positive step that the High Court has taken by admitting the appeal (of the Delhi Police challenging the acquittal).
Our fears have been allayed that the accused may leave the country," Jessica's sister Sabrina told reporters in New Delhi.
The High Court on Wednesday admitted the appeal filed by the Delhi Police challenging the acquittal of Manu Sharma and eight others accused of killing Jessica Lal [Images] on the night of April 29, 1999.
It also issued bailable warrants against all those acquitted by the trial court in the murder case of the model.
Sabrina said she was very scared about the possibility of the accused going out of the country.
"The basic idea was to keep them in India so that they could not run away. That fear has been removed now," she said.
