Security has been tightened in Jharkhand in view of the two-day Maoist-sponsored blockade, which began Tuesday night. The routes of some important trains have also been diverted.
While security has been adequately deployed on the National Highways passing through naxal-affected areas, railway tracks will also be closely guarded, said police sources.
The blockade has been called across six states by the Maoists to protest alleged police atrocities in Dantewada district of Chhatisgarh. Director General of Police V D Ram and Home Secretary J B Tubid made an aerial survey of the naxal-infested areas in Jharkhand to take stock of the security arrangements on Tuesday, the sources said.
Trains running through Latehar, where in March the naxalites had seized a local train, have also been diverted, according to railway sources.
