Parliamentarians from India and Pakistan are in favour of continuation of the peace process between the two countries, noting that only enhanced cooperation and improvement in ties can defeat terrorism.

A meeting of the Indo-Pak Forum of Parliamentarians held in New Delhi on Tuesday resolved that despite terrorist attacks, 'we must continue to invest in the peace process because the desire of the people of India and Pakistan is to move forward'.

"The more the people and governments of both the countries engage themselves in improving ties and enhance cooperation in all spheres, including trade, commerce, culture and media, the more the efforts of terrorists will get
frustrated," Nirmala Deshpande, chairperson of the Forum, said.

The Indo-Pak dialogue process should not get derailed as peace, and not violence must succeed, she said in a statement.

The Forum condemned the terrorist attacks in Mumbai and Srinagar and expressed solidarity with the families of those killed in the serial bombings.

The deadly blasts had affected the peace process, with New Delhi deciding not to go ahead with foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan.
