Congress workers went berserk at the 82^nd plenary session of the party in Hyderabad on Sunday and created a ruckus demanding Rahul Gandhi's [Images] presence on the stage.

Chants of Rahul Gandhi filled the auditorium, as workers demanded that Rahul should sit on the dais and not along with the other members in the pandal.

Shouts of 'Rahul Gandhi zindabad' and other slogans were heard from the young brigade, which was specially drafted in to buttress the demand that he be inducted into the AICC and made party general secretary.

Bowing to the supporters' wish, Rahul then made a fleeting appearance on the stage and strode back to his place after promising to speak on the final day.

If anybody thought the drama was diffused, they were wrong. More was to follow.

As Sonia Gandhi [Images] had told the delegates not to speak much about her, the members decided to shower lavish praise on Rahul Gandhi in their bid of please 'Madam'.

Vayalar Ravi, while supporting the political resolution, kept adding Sonia's name in virtually every sentence. "Madam, you have the vision of Pandit Nehru, political understanding of Indira Gandhi [Images] and dynamism of Rajiv Gandhi. The role of the younger generation cannot be underemphasised," he said in a very obvious reference to the demands to induct Rahul Gandhi into AICC.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi went a step ahead and described the young Gandhi as one who is proficient in the art of charioting like Lord Krishna.

"We need a chirag to move forward and what better chirag than Rahul Gandhi," he said.
