A Bharatiya Janata Party delegation met Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi on Thursday morning and urged him either to advice Chief Minister N Dharam Singh to resign or dismiss him.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the governor, senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said the delegation urged Chaturvedi to take immediate action and invite JD-S leader H D Kumaraswamy to form an alternative government with BJP's support.

Naidu said the governor told the delegation that he was considering the matter.

The BJP legislators in Karnataka then staged a dharna in Raj Bhavan seeking the resignation of the coalition government.
