"Both my counterpart and myself called on Dr Singh after we concluded our two-day talks on Wednesday evening. Pakistan Foreign Secretary Riaz Mohammad Khan extended the invitation on behalf of his government. Pakistan President had extended the invitation during the course of an interview with a news channel. The prime minister has accepted the invitation and said that he would like this visit to be a substantive one. No date has been fixed for the PM's trip," he said.
Dr Singh, while receiving the two foreign secretaries at his residence, said he wanted permanent peace between the two neighbouring countries.
"The Indian side confined itself to the parameters set by Dr Singh that there could not be redrawing of boundaries as far as India was concerned. We have gone by his vision of peace in the Asian region," Saran said.
