Pakistan on Friday said India should show flexibility if the Kashmir issue is to be resolved.

Pakistan was always sincere in resolving the Kashmir issue, but India had to give up its 'stubbornness' if this goal is to be achieved, Pakistan Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said after an hour-long meeting with a three-member Hurriyat Conference delegation headed by Abdul Gani Bhat in Rawalpindi.

Rashid Ahmed said Pakistan wanted a solution acceptable to Kashmiris, India and Pakistan.

Bhat, who had come to Pakistan along with Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, said the Hurriyat leadership was satisfied with Pakistan's stance on Kashmir.

He said flexibility shown by Pakistan for resolving the issue was a positive step and called on India to reciprocate with the same spirit.

Bhat said there were two main objectives of the Hurriyat leadership's visit to Pakistan -- the humanitarian aspect and the political one.

He said that positive and constructive talks were held with the Pakistani leadership. Bhat said it will be unfortunate for the entire region if no solution to the Kashmir issue was found.

He said realising the critical nature of the Kashmir issue, India should give a positive political and diplomatic response to Pakistan's proposals.
