Situation in the bird flu-hit Navapur district of Maharashtra, where culling of fowls has been completed, is expected to return to normalcy within two or three days, a state government official said on Saturday.

Except for the disposal of litter in poultries, all other operations were likely to end within the next two-three days, Public Health Secretary Dr Vijay Satbir Singh told PTI.

The medical report of one of the persons in isolation had tested negative, Singh said. So far, no bird flu cases in humans were confirmed in the state, he added.

The National Institute of Virology has informed the state government that all the 95 human blood or throat swab samples received by it had tested negative, he said. Reports of 94 persons were received earlier. The last report was received late on Friday, he added.

Asked when restrictions on road and rail transport in Navapur will be removed, Singh said 'most probably in the next couple of days'.

"But our medical teams will continue to be stationed in the area as a matter of precaution," he said.

Reports of samples of birds which died in Hingoli and Paithan areas of Marathwada will soon be received from the Bhopal lab by the animal husbandry department, he said.
