The main Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party has taken its complaint against Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee [Images] to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] but decided not to disrupt House proceedings.

Leader of Opposition L K Advani [Images], who met Dr Singh during an event on Monday evening, told him that the Speaker carried on with House business amid din and did not allow the party to raise its objections over the arrest of its chief Rajnath Singh.

"He (Advani) told the prime minister that the Opposition wants discussions to go on but the Speaker's behaviour is inappropriate and unacceptable and creates hurdles in the smooth running of the House instead," senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra told reporters on Tuesday after a meeting of the BJP parliamentary party.

Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance are meeting on Wednesday to decide their next move over the Speaker's conduct. The BJP, however, has no immediate plans to disrupt proceedings in protest against the Speaker.

Advani also spoke to External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee over phone over the party's row with the Speaker. The party, he added, has sought discussion over land acquisition in Left-ruled West Bengal for a motor project.

BJP chief Rajnath Singh, whose arrest in Singur led to uproar in Parliament on Monday, told PTI that he will visit West Bengal again. "We are opposed to acquisition of farm land. Farmers' rights have to be protected," he said.
