Owners of Hitler's Cross, a restaurant in the satellite town of Navi Mumbai, which raked up a controversy over its name, have now decided to rename it The Cross Cafe.

"We hope this name will be a trouble-free one. We have deleted Hitler's [Images] name from it and will also be replacing the swastika with multi-coloured rings," managing director of the venture Punit Sabhlok told PTI.

A new signboard with the new name and the rings will be unveiled on Tuesday, he said.

Two names, Fort Knox and Exotic Goblet, were being considered by the owners before arriving at the current name, Sabhlok said.

"After considering them, we decided to keep it simple and call it The Cross Cafe," he said.

Since its inauguration on August 18, the eatery had attracted the ire of a large section of people, including Israeli Consul General and German Consul General who criticised the management for glorifying the German dictator.
