Chairman of the moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umer Farooq Friday claimed that the initiative of the separatist amalgam for "trilateral talks" with India and Pakistan has been received well in Islamabad.

"The positive role and policies of Hurriyat Conference have been received well in Pakistan," Mirwaiz, who returned to Srinagar [Images] Thursday after a week-long tour of Islamabad, told the congregation at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

He said, "The ongoing trilateral talks initiated by Hurriyat Conference with leadership of India and Pakistan has been hailed by every school of thought in Pakistan, including government, opposition, intellectuals and journalists."

People in that country were of the opinion that dialogue is the only way to resolve Kashmir issue, he said adding, people of Pakistan wanted resolution of the problem as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir who have rendered unparallelled sacrifices.

However, there was "grave concern in Pakistan over the ground situation, especially human rights violations in Kashmir," Mirwaiz said.

He said the time has come that all hurdles and difficulties be removed and process of talks speeded up to resolve the issue.
