The Gujarat administration has made foolproof security arrangements for Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani's National Suraksha Yatra, which begins from Thursday.
On the road with the BJP Yatra
Deputy Commissioner of Police M V Damor told UNI that the administration had deployed additional forces to ensure that no untoward incident would occur during the yatra in the state.
"We are taking every care to ensure there is no security lapse," Damor said.
'Atal is enthusiastic about yatras'
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member Vijay Rupani denied reports that Advani's Yatra may be put off following reinduction of Sanjay Joshi as the BJP national secretary (organisation) or for security reasons. Joshi had relinquished the general secretary's post in December last after the expose of CD scam in the media.
This is Advani's new rath
BJP chief ministers of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat and National General Secretary O M Mathur will be present in Rajkot to flag off the Yatra, Rupani said, adding that on Thursday morning, Advani will offer prayers to Lord Dwarkadheesh before leaving for Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi [Images].
