A man convicted of raping and murdering a six-year-old girl has been executed in central Pakistan, a police official said on Thursday.
Khadim Hussain, 36, was hanged on Wednesday at a prison in Bahawalpur, about 500 kilometres southwest of capital, Islamabad, said Khadim Hussain, an area police official.
He said the man was arrested in 1988, convicted and sentenced to death. Superior courts upheld the decision. In a last bid to save his life, Hussain had sent an application to President Pervez Musharraf [Images] for clemency, who turned it down earlier this month.
