Jammu and Kashmir [Images] chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Sunday said he had not yet received any official invitation to visit Pakistan next month.
Asked to comment on media reports that Pervez Musharraf [Images] had invited him for talks to Islamabad, the Mufti told newsmen that he had not received any official intimation and it would be premature to comment on such reports.
He said his source for the information was the same report that had been carried by newspapers.
"If the President of Pakistan wants to talk to the mainstream political parties of Jammu and Kashmir, it is a good thing," the Mufti said, welcoming greater interaction of people on both sides.
"It would further improve the situation. It shows further realization of the ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir on the part of Pakistan. It is also the admission of the fact that the elections held in 2002 were absolutely free and fair, as acknowledged by the world, and the leadership thrown up by these elections has the true representative character," the chief minister added.
