The family of Sarabjit Singh, sentenced to death in Pakistan in connection with five bomb blasts in cities there, expressed hope on Wednesday that the leaders of the two countries would find a 'positive' solution to save his life.

"I foresee a prosperous future for my brother and I am hopeful that during the meeting between Prime Minister  Manmohan Singh [Images] and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf [Images] on Wednesday, the issue of granting unconditional clemency to him would be discussed on a priority basis," said Dalbir Kaur, Sarabjit's sister, who has waged a decade-long struggle for his release.

After paying obseisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar [Images], she said she was 'optimistic' that the two leaders would find a 'positive solution' to save Sarabjit's life, so that he could be reunited with his family.

Even as the Pakistan Supreme Court said in its detailed judgement that Sarabjit deserved no 'leniency' and that death penalty to him was 'well deserved', Kaur said that his lawyer had told her that he would file a review petition. If that were to be rejected, he would file a mercy petition.
