Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] on Tuesday drew to the attention of United States President George W Bush [Images] that Pakistan was still fomenting terrorism and only when violence stops will there be any realistic progress in the peace process between the two countries.

"Our belief is that Pakistan still controls the flow of terrorism and they must stop it for any realistic progress," the prime minister said, while discussing regional affairs with Bush.

Earlier, greeting the prime minister, Bush said, "You are a good man and I can do business with you."

Acknowledging India's relation with Iran will be a major issue in pushing through the recently signed nuclear initiative, the president said, "We hope the US Congress will support the initiative."

Dr Singh said the Indian Parliament discussed the issue in great detail, though 'I was surprised that Atal Bihari Vajpayee was critical'.

Vajpayee, during his tenure as prime minister, was the one who initiated the bilateral diplomacy initiative, Next Steps in Strategic Partnership.
