Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday said it did not know who is behind speculations regarding leadership change in Madhya Pradesh.
"Babulal Gaur is the chief minister and will remain so," state party president Shivraj Singh Chauhan said in Bhopal.
He was referring to reports from Delhi indicating that Uma Bharti may replace Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Babulal Gaur after the Bihar polls.
"We don't know who is behind this (speculations about change of guard in the state). But we will find out," Chouhan said.
He said no proposal in this regard was discussed during the recent meeting of BJP general secretaries in Delhi.
He added the meeting had other agendas like the Bihar polls. The state BJP president, along with Gaur and party MP Kailash Joshi, were attending a bhoomipoojan function for the party's state convention planned as part of its silver jubilee celebrations on November 26-27.
Around one lakh workers are expected to take part in the convention to be inaugurated by party president Lal Kishenchand Advani, Chouhan said.
He said apart from Bharti, leaders like Venkaiah Naidu, Sushma Swaraj, Pramod Mahajan, Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley will also attend.
The convention is an attempt to ensure greater involvement of workers at the grassroots level in party matters and would unveil a political proposal, besides elaborating on the government's achievements and discussions on various issues, he added.
