The steps taken by Pakistan to control cross-border infiltration have not been enough and there has been a spate of violent attacks on civilian and political figures, which could undermine the ongoing peace process between the neighbours, Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

During the question hour, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said, "India had conveyed to Pakistan at the highest level that the current peace process would be undermined unless Pakistan takes effective action to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism, including training camps, launch pads and communication links between terror groups on the Indian side and their handlers on the Pakistan side." 

Maintaining that Pakistan had to take these steps to fulfill its January 2004 joint statement commitment, he said the government has been keeping the international community informed of the developments in this regard on a continuous basis.

Replying to another question, Ahamed said India had accepted Pakistan's proposal for talks to finalise the Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus service. He said earlier Pakistan had cited infrastructural constraints in starting this service.

Anyone possessing a valid passport, visa and other travel documents would be able to travel by the Amritsar-Lahore bus service and the proposed Amritsar-Nankana Sahib service, he added.
