Former Bhartiya Janata Party ideologue Govindacharya on Monday asked party General Secretary Arun Jaitley to produce the suicide note Uma Bharati had allegedly written after the party decided to install Shivraj Singh Chauhan as Madhya Pradesh chief minister.

"I would advice Arun Jaitley to keep politics away from the personal relationship and desist from off the record briefings. If this is what happens to Umaji then which decent woman would like to join politics," Govindacharya told rediff.com on phone on Monday evening.

He said the report about Uma's alleged threats to commit suicide on the front page of Dainik Bhaskar November 28 issue was fabricated and malicious.

He told the owners of the paper to keep commercial interests separate from journalistic interests.

Agnima Dubey, the reporter who put out the story said her story was correct and that she stands by it.

"I do not know who is saying what. I am getting phone calls congratulating me and that is what matters to me," she said when asked about the veracity of her story.

Govindacharya, meanwhile, denied that Uma Bharati was suicidal.

"She would take ten people with her than commit suicide. She knows how to tackle people and does not need any support from any quarter," he said.

He, however, admitted that he had called Arun Jaitley on phone and asked him to speak to Uma Bharati as she was mentally disturbed.
