After hours of interrogation by the joint teams of Delhi Police and intelligence agencies, police said their investigation into the veracity of Lone's claims were inconclusive as many inconsistencies had emerged in his statement.
Lone was taken to the blast site to ascertain whether he really had any role in the blasts as claimed by him, Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnal Singh told a press conference in New Delhi.
"Whatever leads we have got will be followed. We will not make any loose statements," he said, adding, "There are several inconsistencies in his statement which are being verified."
Singh said during the course of investigations in the blasts, several such cases had emerged and some persons were interrogated after being brought to Delhi.
"But we do not want to go to the press before getting something conclusive," he said.
Singh said Mohd Iqbal, owner of a transport company, whose name had been mentioned by Lone, was also being questioned besides some other people.
Sources said Lone was being confronted by Iqbal during questioning.
