Pakistan to release 700 Indian prisoners

Pakistan will soon release 700 civilian Indian prisoners from its prisons after formalities are completed.

But it said on Monday that it had no Indian prisoners of war.

The formalities of identification of those who have completed their prison terms have been completed, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Jalil Abbas Jilani said.

About PoWs, Jilani said it has been discussed in the past there were none in any of Pakistan's prisons.

"We did not find a single PoW and it has been communicated to India," Jilani said. Indian officials have recently said 802 fishermen and 171 civilian prisoners were in Pakistan's custody.
