Rashtrapati Bhavan [Images] has refused to send a few documents, which the defence counsel wanted in connection with the then President K R Narayanan's instruction to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on how to deal with Godhra riots, to Godhra Inquiry Commission.

The commission was informed about this on Friday. A letter received by the Justice Nanavati-Shah Commission from Rashtrapati Bhavan said that some of the letters sought by the Defence counsel couldn't be sent on grounds of privilege.

The documents, which Sinha had asked, include the letter written by Narayanan to Vajpayee on the steps being taken to control the Godhra riots.
