Naga peace talks on July 29-30

A two-member team of the government of India headed by interlocutor for Naga peace talks K Padmanabhaiah left for Amsterdam on Wednesday night to hold the next round of peace talks with the Naga leaders in the Netherlands. E S L Narasimhan, director of the Intelligence Bureau, is the other member of the team.

According to official sources, the talks between government representatives and Naga leaders Isak Chisi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah, president and general secretary of the Nationalist Socialist  Council of Nagalim, would be held on July 29 and 30.

Naga leaders who arrived in New Delhi to hold talks with the government of India in the first week of December 2004 year left for Amsterdam in the first week of July 2005. Since then there has  been no contact between the two sides.

Extension of ceasefire would be the main agenda of the talks. The present ceasefire agreement comes to an end on July 31, 2005. The issue of Manipur and the Naga dominated districts are also likely to come up for discussions.
