The Association of Accredited Advisors on Overseas Education on Thursday said it will offer scholarships to 100 students who have lost their parents in the December 26 tsunami disaster.

The scholarship amount will be Rs 20,000 for each student per year for a maximum of two years, the association said in a press release in Chennai.

The amount will cover expenses incurred on school uniform, books and tuition fee.

"They [those applying for the scholarship] need to submit a requisition letter with the relevant copies of the death certificates and school/course certificate to avail for the scholarship," the release said.

The association will raise Rs 20 lakh from UK universities for the scholarships.
