The trial in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam will be held through video-conferencing.

A meeting to finalise the modalities of the trial was held on Friday in Bangalore. Senior Central Bureau of Investigation officers and senior prison administration officials of Karnataka and Maharashtra attended the meeting.

Mock exercises have been conducted to ensure smooth functioning of the video-conferencing facilities.

A large number of accused in the case, including the kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi, are lodged in different jails in Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The idea to hold the trial through video-conferencing was put forward by the CBI to avoid unnecessary expenditure on ferrying the accused from one court to the other. Also, the security aspect involved in such movements was taken into account.
