Police on Thursday rescued four minor girls, long missing from their homes in West Bengal's South 24-Parganas district, from brothels in Pune and handed them over to their parents.

Two of the girls hailed from Baruipur and two were from Joynagar.

The West Bengal police, acting on complaints filed by the girls' parents, had arrested a person. He confessed he had lured the girls away with promises of lucrative jobs in Mumbai.

He added that on reaching Mumbai he sold the girls for Rs 20,000 each, the police said.
