The Bajrang Dal has vowed not to allow any Valentine's Day celebrations in Bhopal.

"We will oppose it tooth and nail because the concept of Valentine's Day has come from the West and through it an attempt is being made to spoil Indian culture," said Devendra Rawat, district convener, Bajrang Dal.

The outfit has constituted 16 teams, each comprising 25 activists, which will make sure that boys and girls are not able to meet on February 14.

"Our teams will visit all hotels and restaurants and stop Valentine's Day celebrations. The teams will also visit parks frequented by boys and girls," said Rawat.

Bajrang Sena, a lesser-known offshoot of Bajrang Dal, plans to organise a mock funeral procession of Saint Valentine on February 13. Its activists will also organise a procession in protest against Valentine's Day celebrations.

On the other hand, the National Students Union of India has decided to come to the aid of lovebirds.

"We will shield couples from the Bajrang Dal," said Amit Sharma, an NSUI leader.

The NSUI too has formed several teams to stop Bajrang Dal activists.

The police are also ready. "We have chalked out a plan to protect boys and girls but we will not make it public now. We will not allow Bajrang Dal or Bajrang Sena activists to harass anybody," said Superintendent of Police Pawan Shrivastava.
