The Lok Sabha on Monday endorsed Speaker Somnath Chaterjee's direction to the "Tainted members in the bribe expose" not to attend sessions of the House until the matter is looked into and a decision taken."
Leader of the House and Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee and members of all major parties unanimously said the House would abide by whatever action the Speaker suggests after the enquiry, which all of them wanted should be held within a time-frame.
Senior leaders of major political parties demanded that strict action should be taken against all the MPs -- 10 of the Lok Sabha and one from the Rajya Sabha -- who were caught on camera taking money.
The Speaker, as well as all members who spoke during Zero Hour, expressed their concerns over the issue and unanimously demanded that nobody should be spared.
Mukherjee said that strict action should be taken against all members who were involved in the bribe case. He congratulated the Speaker for taking quick action.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Mr Ram Gopal Yadav (SP) endorsed the Speaker's decision on the issue at the beginning of the day and wanted strict action. Gurudas Dasgupta (CPI), Harin Pathak (BJP), Pawan Kumar Bansal (Congress), Prabhunath Singh (JD-U), Basudeb Acharia (CPI-M), Braja Kishore Tripathy (BJD), Ram Kripal Yadav (RJD), Ramdas Athawale and A K S Vijayan (DMK) also associated themselves with Mr Yadav's sentiments on behalf of their parties.
Pathak informed the House that his party had suspended all the members involved in the scam from the BJP Parliamentary Party and a high level committee has been set up. The committee will report to the House committee, which the Speaker proposes to set up.
Bansal also said that the party has also suspended its member, who was caught taking bribe on camera.
