Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party for expelling Uma Bharti and accusing the party-led government of 'failing' to fulfil promises made to the people of Madhya Pradesh, eunuch leader and former Suhagpur legislator Shabnam Mausi said on Monday that she would contest against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the assembly by-polls.
"I will contest against Chouhan and field five other eunuchs against him at whichever constituency he chooses to contest the polls from," Shabnam Mausi told reporters.
Chouhan, who was sworn in as chief minister on November 29, is yet to choose the assembly constituency to contest polls within the mandatory period of six months.
Accusing the BJP of 'betraying' Bharti, Shabnam said, "She had devoted her life to the party. But instead of allowing the real Madhya Pradesh chief minister to hold the post, the party leadership took the decision to elect Chouhan".
Alleging corruption in the state government, the former independent MLA said, "The two years of BJP rule have seen three chief ministers. Large scams are being brushed under the carpet and corrupt officials are being sheltered."
Claiming that the previous Congress government was 'far better' than the present one, Shabnam Mausi said the BJP will not be able to retain power for next three years.
