A staunch loyalist of suspended Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti, former Union mnister Prahlad Patel resigned from the saffron party on Thursday.
"I have submitted my resignation to the state party leadership and its my decision to continue supporting Uma Bharti and participate in her padyatra," Patel, who was also suspended from the party two days back, told PTI here.
"It is better to be out of the party and speak about it rather than being its member and causing it harm," he added.
Patel was suspended from the party following 'unruly and violent' scenes during the legislature party meeting, which elected Shivraj Singh Chouhan as its leader.
Asked about any move by Bharti on the same lines, Patel said she still has an option to return to the mainstream in the party. "But it is my conscious decision to quit and close all options for myself. However, I will continue to work on BJP ideology," he added.
