Security agencies have begun investigation into the leakage of the names of people who had applied for permission to travel by the inaugural Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus on April 7.

"We are investigating the matter. It is premature to say anything at this time," police sources said.

Militants of four outfits had on Wednesday circulated to the media in Srinagar [Images] the list of passengers scheduled to travel by the first bus.   They warned people not to travel by the bus.

"We are looking into how the militants got the list of confirmed passengers....We believe that the list has been leaked across the border as most militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir [Images] have their base camps in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir," a senior security official said requesting anonymity.

Preliminary investigations suggested the militants had managed to lay their hands on the list in PoK and circulated it among news organisations in Srinagar to create fear among people, the official said.

National Conference president Omar Abdullah expressed concern over the names being leaked. He demanded an inquiry into the matter.

"It means that militants have access to the forums meant to maintain secrecy," said Omar, who is among the 10 politicians awaiting clearance from Pakistan to visit Muzaffarabad.
