Uma, Naidu bury the hatchet

Over a week after her reported quarrel with party president M Venkaiah Naidu, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti on Monday met him in New Delhi in an apparent attempt at a patch up.

Bharti went to Naidu's residence and was closeted with him for about an hour, party sources said.

The firebrand leader is understood to have justified her "anger" with the leadership in her discussions with Naidu.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Babu Lal Gaur in also in Delhi and has met with senior leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Kishenchand Advani and Naidu.

There are rumours that the BJP is considering a change in leadership in the state.

BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley was in Madhya Pradesh recently to ascertain the views of party legislators.
