A young widow's nose and ears were chopped off and her head tonsured allegedly by her in-laws, who suspected her involvement in her husband's murder at Sekhria village in Shajapur, Madhya Pradesh.

Police said 35-year-old Saurabhbai Gurjar's husband was killed on March 12.

Saurabhbai was going to Sekhria from her parents' house on Sunday when she was accosted and beaten up by seven of her in-laws, including three women, they said.

The woman was taken to the spot where her husband was killed and her nose and ears were chopped off and hair cut, the police said, adding that she was admitted to Shajapur district hospital.

A case has been registered and the police have launched a hunt to nab the accused.
