Talks with Hurriyat to go on: PM

June 24, 2004 15:57 IST

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Thursday said the government would continue the process of dialogue with the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and all other groups in Jammu and Kashmir to bring peace in the state.

"The government is willing to talk with all disaffected groups provided they shun the path of violence," he said in his first address to the nation after he took over as PM.

He said the government would adopt a comprehensive approach to the problem of national security.

Terrorism posed a grave threat to the unity and progress of India, he said. "We shall combat it with all the resources at our command. There shall be no doubt whatsoever about our resolve to deal with this insidious threat to our nation."
