House of CJI's brother looted

June 07, 2004 15:57 IST

Intruders have allegedly looted the house of Ramniwas Lahoti, the elder brother of Chief Justice of India Justice R C Lahoti, in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, police said on Monday.

The house, located barely 250 metres from the family's ancestral house, had been lying vacant since May 31 when Lahoti left for Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of his brother and then proceeded on a pilgrimage, the police said.

The incident came to light on Sunday when Ramniwas's younger brother, Om, sent an employee to water the plants in the garden, the police said, adding the employee found the door open and household items lying scattered all over.

The house has been sealed and fingerprint experts from Gwalior and Bhopal have been asked to help in investigations.

Ramniwas has been informed in Rishikesh and a clear picture on what have been stolen will emerge only after his return.
