The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha on Wednesday sought dismissal of Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda alleging he is a convict.
A JMM delegation told state Governor Ved Prakash Marwah that Munda had been convicted in the Jamshedpur sub-divisional judicial magistrate's court in 1992 in Case No 659/88 for breach of Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code. [Section 144 allows authorities to ban the assembly of more than 5 persons]
It also alleged that he had contested the assembly election from a reserved constituency by furnishing a false caste certificate.
Earlier, JMM chief Shibu Soren had to quit the Union Council of Ministers after the Jharkhand government obtained a non-bailable arrest warrant against his name in connection with the death of 11 persons in Chirudih in 1975.
