Post-ceasefire, Advani reviews situation along LoC

Making his first visit to the forward areas, Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani on Tuesday checked the progress of the ongoing fencing work in the Rajouri-Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said in Jammu.

Advani, who arrived in Jammu early on Tuesday morning along with a high level team from the Union home ministry, was received at the technical airport by Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, Director General of Police Gopal Sharma and Chief Secretary Sudhir Biloria besides senior officers of the army and Border Security Force.

Soon after his arrival, Advani flew to Bhimbergali forward area in the Rajouri-Poonch sector.

He visited various forward posts and monitored the progress of the border fencing work and ground situation in the post-ceasefire period along the Line of Control. He later reviewed with top army and civil officials the situation with regard to security, infiltration and militancy after the ceasefire.
