Man held for posing as Advani's son

January 15, 2004 22:56 IST

A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly posing as the son of Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani.

Police picked up 35-year-old Mantreshwar Jha alias Kumar Aman from Kadma in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand after being tipped-off that he had been making phone calls to important personalities, including film producers Rajkumar Santoshi and Pahlaj Nihalani (in Mumbai), posing as Jayant Advani, Superintendent of Police Arun Oraon told reporters.

Jha had reportedly asked the duo to give him a suitable role in their film to Kumar Aman. He had also collected donations for bringing out a magazine.

Two mobile phones and a computer were seized during a raid at Jha's residence. The police is investigating whether he had extorted money in the name of Jayant Advani, the SP said.
