Pakistan keeps Kashmir promise
January 02, 2004 21:27 IST
Pakistan kept its promise and did not raise the Kashmir issue when foreign ministers of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation met in Islamabad on Friday.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, addressing the meeting, focussed on the cooperation among the SAARC countries to promote peace and economic development.
Later, at a briefing, Kasuri said Pakistan was ready to discuss all issues, including Kashmir.
"Pakistan's position is very clear and this has been repeatedly stated by the President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali," he said.
About the possibility of a bilateral meeting with India during the SAARC summit, Kasuri said, "It takes two to tango. You require a peace partner. We can't do it by ourselves."
He added, "The ball is in India's court."
