The Election Commission has filed nine FIRs against the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal for violating the model code of conduct.
The code has been in conduct since December 17 when the EC announced that Bihar would go to polls on February 3, 15 and 23.
The EC had received a complaint that Union Railway Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav had distributed money among dalits in a village near Patna and that his party was violating the code of conduct.

On the directive of the EC, an FIR had been filed on Monday against Yadav for allegedly bribing voters ahead of the elections. The EC asked why his RJD should not be de-recognised.
On Wednesday, it sent a special observer, K J Rao, to investigate the allegations.
It was after Rao visited the state that the nine FIRs were lodged in connection with violation of the code of conduct, sources in the police said adding some more FIRs might be filed.
All the violations pertained to the party's proposed December 23 rally in Patna, which Yadav postponed on December 21.
