Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal has booked 18 special trains for the party's Kisan Mazdoor rally in Patna on December 23.
Sources in the Danapur railway division of East Central Railway confirmed the booking.
The RJD has already deposited Rs 1.5 million with the railways as advance and will pay the remaining amount after the formalities for the booking are over, the sources said.
The RJD had demanded more than 18 trains but the railways refused, they said.
Officials told rediff.com that these special trains will help railways earn lakhs of rupees and make a huge profit.
A senior railway official has been deputed to supervise the arrangements of trains for the rally, for which party workers, supporters and sympathisers are expected from various parts of Bihar.
