Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh told Liberhan Commission that he must have blamed top Bharatiya Janata Party leaders for the demolition of the mosque at Ayodhya "out of anger".
"Truth is, when I was removed from the party, no one extended support. And what I had said then could have been an expression of anger and dissatisfaction. But I don't recollect if I said it or not," he told the commission.
The Liberhan Commission is probing the circumstances leading to demolition of the disputed structure on December 6, 1992.
"Today, I would like to clarify that there was no conspiracy of any kind by any section," Singh said.
His reply came when the commission's counsel, Anupam Gupta, referred to a media report dated July 16, 2000, in which Singh had allegedly accused senior BJP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders of being part of a conspiracy to demolish the disputed structure.
