Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti on Thursday ruled out her resignation from the post in the wake of a case in a Karnataka court relating to hoisting of national flag at Idgah maidan.

"The Karnataka government has registered a case against my hoisting of tricolour at Hubli Idgah Maidan, which I consider a national honour rather than an offence," Bharti told reporters.

"There is no question of my resignation," she said, adding she would abide by the court orders.

The chief minister said she would consult her lawyers and party leaders like former Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley on the case filed in a Hubli court.

The district court in Hubli adjourned for Friday further hearing on an application praying for dropping of a charge filed against Bharti in connection with the hoisting of the national flag at the Idgah maidan here in 1992.

Two advocates had filed the application on her behalf before the court praying for setting aside the order of a Judicial Magistrate Second Class who had earlier rejected an application for dropping of the charge under section 307 of Cr Pc on the ground that it came under the purview of the district court.

The government had in 2002 withdrawn the cases against the accused, including Uma Bharti, barring the one under Section 307, which relates to attempt to murder.
