The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha's petition seeking review of its order transferring the trial of the two disproportionate assets cases to a special court in Bangalore.

The review petition was rejected by a bench of Justice S N Variava and Justice H K Sema, which had in November last ordered shifting of the two cases against Jayalalithaa and four others from a Chennai special court to Bangalore.

The court had reiterated the order in February when it had rejected Jayalalithaa's plea for modification of the order.

Jayalalithaa had requested the court to shift the trial of Rs 66.67 crore disproportionate assets cases to any state other than Karnataka.

The cases were transferred to Bangalore on a petition filed by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary K Anbazhagan who had submitted before the court that 64 witnesses had turned hostile in the two cases after Jayalalithaa became the chief minister of Tamil Nadu in 2001.

Besides Jayalalitha other accused in the cases are herclose associate N Sasikala, Ilavarasi, her estranged foster-son T T V Sudhakaran and his brother T T V Dinakaran.
