India, Israel to hold joint workshop on border surveillance
September 10, 2003 21:21 IST
India and Israel will jointly hold two workshops in the country on border surveillance and checking infiltration as a follow up to a similar exercise on suicide bombing undertaken in Israel a few months ago, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said on Wednesday.
"Our representatives from the defence ministry and home ministry had participated in the workshop on suicide bombing. Israeli security personnel will be present at the two workshops to be held in India on border security, checking infiltration and associated matters," Advani told reporters in Bangalore.
Terming Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's visit as 'very successful', Advani said his discussions held the Israeli leader on Tuesday centred on 'terrorism'.
"He (Sharon) had to cut short the visit because of the (terrorism) incident in Israel. Considering the kind of terrorism both the countries are fighting against, cooperation between the two countries is a natural development," he said.
